Use this thread as a way to discuss fantasy sports that aren't being served by traditional fantasy providers. Obscure stats, different play styles, different sports. Anything is fair game.
Fantasy football never seems to take into account penalties. I'd love to see this as an additional metric.
The problem about penalties is attribution. Not all penalties are assigned to one person, and the person "infringed upon" isn't always identified in the call.
I believe I have a cool way to include both the suggestions for penalties and another one that I have been considering: favorite NFL offensive coach and defensive coach. So just like you choose a favorite team for some fantasy leagues, how about choosing a coach and if penalties are levied against their team, it's something like 5 points an infarction or something (perhaps 10 if ejected from game?). Meanwhile, if your offensive coach's squad gets a touchdown or defensive coach gets an interception you get some small amount of points (ie. 3). Extra points for offensive coach getting a safety and a defensive one getting a shutout??
I like it, but "mental mistakes" would have to count more, such as procedure penalties, offsides, delay of game, and unsportsmanlike conduct. I'm not sure if fines or suspensions should factor in, as well.
If we can track it, let's do it. If it's not feasible, then maybe it'll be a feature on the future roadmap. I really like the idea of mental mistakes costing more. It'll make you think twice about which coach you'd want to associate with. Also makes it interesting from an educational point of view of which team cultures/coaches have the most control of their players...

I don't necessarily see the fantasy coaches league as being one of the highest priority leagues, given that there are so many other games and statistical categories with zero fantasy coverage, but I agree that it is appealing.
To be clear, I wasn't talking about a separate coaches league, I'm talking about an encompassing fantasy experience that includes things like OFF and DEF coach selections and consequences.
I agree that there needs to be a list of underutilized stat categories that could be added to fantasy football games.
It'd also be nice to see a "feature comparison chart" from provider to provider, because I assumed that more defensive stats would be available in every league, and it turns out that they just aren't there for most providers.
Good point! Because of the league I played with you is why I have a new found appreciation for the defensive side of things. In fact, I'd say I enjoy watching great defensive linemen do their thing just as much as clutch 3rd downs and TDs.
